“What a feeling of shame, humiliation, lack of respect”, FC Petit Bard protests against the League

The regional body closed the case of the meeting in the U14 category between Beaucaire and Petit Bard without further action, accusing spectators of having uttered racist insults.

The meeting on September 28 with the U14s of Stade Beaucarois and those of FC Petit Bard has not finished generating ink. That day, at half-time of the match, the educators of the Hérault club decided not to resume the match.

Here are extracts from a report that its leaders sent to the Ligue : “Our young players have been victims of racist insults, our leaders have also been victims of intimidation, insults and threats […] They decided to call law enforcement to ensure their safety. […] The parents of two players filed a complaint, as did the club. The Beaucaire national police identified a person who partially admitted the facts.”

The matter taken to the federation?

On October 10, the club learned that the Ligue d’Occitanie had closed the case without further action, according to this message sent by the regional body: “[…] The visiting club denounces “racist insults, intimidation and threats towards players, managers and parents”. It also specifies that it called on the police to guarantee the safety of its members and filed a complaint. Therefore, the Regional Commission for Regulations and Changes decided to open disciplinary proceedings against the club and to request a detailed report on the alleged facts. Upon resumption of the various reports, the Commission considers that it cannot, in the state of the case, enter into the process of sanctioning the Stade Beaucairois in the absence of conclusive evidence demonstrating that the local spectators committed the alleged acts. .”

The leaders of FC Petit Bard are protesting: “We were not even asked for an additional report in order to provide elements as is usually done in other cases. Only the opposing club of Beaucaire was heard. What a feeling of shame, humiliation, lack of respect! Is FC Petit-Bard Montpellier a sub club? Is our word worth less than the others? We will turn to the French Football Federation (FFF) so that light can be shed on the handling of this matter? sent too quickly.”

When asked, the legal department of the Occitanie Football League declined to comment.
