The human remains, apparently belonging to a man, were found on the banks of the Seine in Méricourt. The searches carried out by the police have not yet allowed the other parts of the victim’s body to be found.

A vision of horror for this walker on the banks of the Seine, Tuesday, September 10. As she was walking along the towpath of Méricourt, in the Yvelines, the walker discovered a hiking shoe inside which was a human foot in a state of decomposition, learned The Figaro from concordant sources.

Panicked, the latter alerted the mayor of the town who in turn alerted the police. Dispatched to this path between greenery and watercourse, the police carried out a sweep and found, a few meters further, the second shoe containing the victim’s other foot. It was a pair of “Quechua MH500 brand, gray color, male type and probable size 43”said a source close to the case.

The National Gendarmerie Criminal Research Institute (IRCGN) is responsible for analyzing the shoes and the body parts found inside in order, in particular, to extract possible genetic traces and determine the date of death. At this stage, the other parts of the body have not yet been found. An investigation for “voluntary homicide” is opened by the Versailles public prosecutor’s office and entrusted to the Mantes-la-Jolie research brigade. “Numerous investigations are underway. At present, we have no information on the circumstances of the death and no leads have been ruled out.”the prosecution tells us.
