LE FIGARO. – The African debt to China Can it explain the slowdown in economic relations? ?

XAVIER AURÉGAN. – Debt and the difficulties in repaying it are one reason, but there are other factors. I am thinking of an analytical step back on the part of African elites. The time of credulity and naivety is behind them: since the Covid crisis which caused a general slowdown, Africans look twice before signing an agreement with China or a Chinese actor.
