Invited on Sud Radio this morning, the former first deputy (PS) of Anne Hidalgo was questioned about the next municipal elections. “Everyone knows that I am obviously thinking about it and that I have prepared for it,” he declared, adding that he had “projects for this city.”

“Paris is my life’s commitment, I have an infinite passion for this city”. Emmanuel Grégoire, the former first socialist deputy of Anne Hidalgo and now deputy and councilor of Paris was the guest of Jean-Jacques Bourdin on Sud Radio this morning. Asked about his ambitions for the next municipal elections in 2026, he did not hide his enthusiasm, nor rule out his candidacy.

“Everyone knows that I’m obviously thinking about it and that I’ve prepared for it.”he said, adding that he had “projects for this city”The socialist MP believes, however, that “This is not the time to talk about all this” and that “The mayor must finish her term”.

In the last legislative elections, the candidacy and then the victory of Emmanuel Grégoire had created a chill within the municipal majority. The socialist then preferred to relinquish his prerogatives as first deputy to devote himself fully to his mandate as a deputy. He has since been replaced as first deputy by Patrick Bloche, himself a former deputy.

“Lucie Castets is not ancient history”

Taking his role as a deputy of the New Popular Front fully to heart, Emmanuel Grégoire ardently defended the profile of Lucie Castets, who had already been dismissed by Emmanuel Macron. “Lucie Castets remains the candidate of the four forces of the New Popular Front, it is not because she is not nominated today that she cannot be nominated another day”he says, adding that this “Just because Emmanuel Macron says no to Lucie Castets doesn’t mean it’s no for us (NFP)».

Emmanuel Grégoire also refuted the profiles of Thierry Beaudet and Bernard Cazeneuve at the head of the future new government. “Any government that embodies continuity with the actions of previous governments will have to lead to censure.”he says. He still reported “not feeling comfortable” with the method of France Insoumise, and announced that he would not demonstrate on September 7. “It is not the job of political parties to initiate this movement”.

Regarding Anne Hidalgo’s contrasting decision to keep the Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower, Emmanuel Grégoire declared himself in favor. “It’s a good idea” he says. The Paris councilor also announced that a compensation commission for traders impacted by the Olympic Games will be set up in 2025.
