Gabriel Tual finished 4th this Saturday in the Diamond League final this Saturday in Brussels.

French middle-distance runner Gabriel Tual, 6th at the Olympics after becoming the 6th best performer in history in the 800m, concluded his crazy season by taking 4th place in the Diamond League finals on Saturday in Brussels, where he was hoping for a little better. In the Brussels cool, the race was won by Kenyan Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the fastest on the double lap of the track this summer, in 1 min 42 sec 70.

Fourth almost a second behind (1.43:67), Tual admitted that “The form is starting to go down and it is felt”. “I still came fourth, the time is 1 min 43 so it shows that I’m still consistent all season and that’s really great”he analyzed.

Having entered a new dimension this summer, notably after running in 1 min 41 sec 61 at the Paris meeting at the beginning of July, making him the sixth best performer in the history of a discipline in full swing, Tual wanted more. “There were things that made the season crazy and then others that made me, as a competitor, a little disappointed… Well, not disappointed because I gave it my all, but frustrated.”he explained.

The disappointments? “Notably” a sixth place at the Olympic Games in Paris where he hoped for better. “There is always a bit of frustration, but if we take the whole picture, maybe with one or two months of hindsight, yes, I will be very happy and very proud.”he concluded.
