The competitions commission of the French Football Federation (FFF) decreed, Monday December 23, the defeat on the green carpet of Tours FC, a Regional 1 club, after the cancellation of the match against Lorient (Ligue 2) counting for the 32nd of the Coupe de France final, reports France Bleu Touraine. The meeting was scheduled for Saturday, but “the prefecture of Indre-et-Loire and the town hall of Tours noted that FC Tours was not able to put in place a system to guarantee the match was held in terms of welcoming the public”explained the FFF on Saturday in a press release, explaining that the Organizing Commission for the Coupe de France would examine “the follow-up”.
This commission therefore ruled on Monday, late in the morning. Tours FC is penalized by “the loss of the match” against Lorient, because “he is responsible for the organizational failures which led to the cancellation of the match”explains the organ of the French Football Federation. It remains to be seen whether – and how – the club intends to reimburse the 6,500 supporters who purchased their tickets for the match, specifies France Bleu Touraine.
Bryan Bergougnoux, the coach of Tours FC, said he “angry” et “hugely disappointed for the players and the staff, who did an extraordinary job to have the opportunity to play a Ligue 2 team, at home, just before the holidays”. He also expressed on France Bleu Touraine his “frustration” for supporters and volunteers. “When the players see that we cannot manage to organize an event which can bring a lot of money to the club, it obviously worries them”also explained Bryan Bergougnoux. The Orléans commercial court must rule on January 16 on whether or not the club should be liquidated.
