A fire broke out in an apartment in the La Villeneuve district, in Grenoble (Isère), this Saturday, December 21, in the early evening. The tensions in this sector are linked to the arrest of a young person earlier in the day, according to the first elements collected.
Garbage fires and mortar fire
Around 9:30 p.m., firefighters were called to respond to trash and trash fires. However, upon their arrival on site, the firefighters were targeted by mortar fireworks, making their intervention particularly dangerous.
One of these shots hit the balcony of an apartment, starting a major fire inside the home.
Four residents evacuated by police
The apartment was occupied by four people at the time of the disaster. Thanks to the rapid intervention of four police officers, the occupants were able to be evacuated, safe and sound.
The officers, although slightly intoxicated by the fumes, were not injured and were treated by the emergency services on site.
No arrests yet
To date, no arrests have been made in connection with these events. An investigation is underway to identify the perpetrators of the mortar fire and those responsible for the tensions in this sensitive district of Grenoble.
High tension context
Urban violence in the La Villeneuve district is not unprecedented. Law enforcement and emergency services are regularly confronted with complex situations, often linked to arrests or local disputes.
This incident raises concerns about the safety of agents on the ground and that of residents of neighborhoods exposed to these acts of violence.
