The accident, which occurred near the Vendargues exit, in the direction of , in fact involved a gendarmerie Alpine with two soldiers on board. According to 3, the gendarmes of the Poussan motorway platoon (Hérault) checked a motorcycle at 139 km/h instead of 90 km/h.
