Alternately in charge of the day school, supervisor of the boarding school, in the kitchen, again in surveillance or in housekeeping, Joëlle Bigot has always worked pour the well-being of students and their teachers.
“My place was with them, it was my destiny”she breathes, overcome by emotion after the tributes received, before continuing: “I am a believer, I was there out of conviction and it was important to me. I lost my husband early and the parish father was very supportive of me through this ordeal. »
Four longevity medals
Surrounded by her children, she was able to retrace, with her now former colleagues, these 40 years spent at Notre-Dame. The opportunity for her, too, to slip in a recent anecdote. » At the start of the school year, I stopped monitoring to resume cleaning. I walked through the hallways with toilet paper. A student was surprised and asked me what I was doing (laughs). “
A sign that everyone knew Joëlle and that her departure will leave a void in Notre-Dame. “There is not a room you have not passed through,” recalled the director.
Among the gifts offered by her colleagues, Joëlle Bigot also received more symbolic rewards. These are in fact four medals awarded to hima sign of its longevity. The silver medal for 20 years of career, the vermeil medal for 30 years, gold for 35 years and finally the Grand gold for 40 years of career.
