On December 7, 2024, a water leak caused flooding on board an American Airlines plane flying from Dallas to Minneapolis. A scene of panic filmed and shared on social networks.
The kind of anomaly you don’t expect. On an American Airlines flight, a leak in the toilet caused flooding in the cabin, sparking panic and disgust among passengers. More fear than harm in the end, and certain images posted on social networks have accumulated several million views.
Toilet leak
According to The Economic Timesthe problem came from the sanitary facilities. A passenger reported a leak after following another person to the toilet. He immediately informed a flight attendant.
The water quickly came out of the toilets and began to spread a few millimeters throughout the plane. Staff were unable to repair the leak, so passengers were soon forced to squat in their seats.
A viral video
The result was a video that went viral on TikTok, viewed seven million times. It testifies to the scene of panic on board, although it ended well, against a backdrop of Titanic soundtrack : “My heart will go on”.
Highly commented images: “Imagine drowning on a plane!”, “Where are the lifeboats?”, “Open the window to dry”, “New fear unlocked when I put my bag on the floor on a plane”, “When you take the ‘airplane because you are afraid of shipwrecks during boat trips…’ And a great anecdote for passengers to tell at Christmas.
