SURVEY – Emmanuel Macron is only halfway through his term, but politicians all have their heads turned toward the next presidential election. The Ifop-Fiducial survey shows that Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal are best placed today to hope to counter Marine Le Pen.

Ten years ago, on August 26, 2014, to be exact, a newcomer to politics became Minister of Economy in Manuel Valls’ government: Emmanuel Macron. Three years later, in 2017, he was elected President of the Republic.

Ten years later, while it is still difficult to predict what will happen in three years, it seemed interesting to measure the balance of power after an electoral sequence that completely upset the political balance. First element, despite the defeat of the National Rally, Marine Le Pen’s voters are not demobilizing. She is back to the level tested last April.

Second element, Édouard Philippe and Gabriel Attal are progressing despite, or thanks to, their strategy of breaking with Emmanuel Macron. They are widening the gap with their competitors in their camp. Rivalry could set in between the two former prime ministers. Finally, on the left, the hegemony of Jean-Luc Mélenchon does not exist…
