Streamers’ charity marathon once again exceeds 10 million euros mark

-

After a one-year break, a hundred streamers gathered this weekend in Montpellier for the largest charity event in France broadcast on the Twitch platform. Donations were collected for five associations fighting against poverty.

On the verge of a new donation record. The 8e edition of ZEvent, the biggest event combining video games and solidarity in France, ended on Sunday with a prize pool of 10,145,881 euros for five associations fighting against poverty.

Launched by a concert at the Zénith in Montpellier on Thursday evening, the marathon organized by French streamer ZeratoR and his right-hand man Alexandre Dachary began on Friday at 6 p.m., broadcast live on the Twitch platform.

For over 50 hours, around thirty internet personalities took turns playing video games, answering quizzes and setting each other challenges. The goal: to raise funds for five associations, including Secours Populaire, Bureaux du cœur and Solidarité Paysans, in conjunction with the Fondation de France.

The event was initially met with criticism over the choice of participants, with some accused of making inappropriate remarks. After a one-year hiatus, the 8e edition brought together streamers like Kameto, Ladysundae and AVAMind, the host of the talk show “Popcorn” Domingo and the host Samuel Étienne. They were joined online by a hundred others. The comedian Laura Felpin and the Lebrun brothers, who shone at the Olympic Games in table tennis, also participated.

Host Samuel Etienne opened his Twitch channel in 2021. It has over 900,000 subscribers.

The ZEvent brings together on average between 500,000 and one million spectators. Since its first edition in 2016, then named “Project Avengers”, this fundraising event has raised more than 31 million euros. It has collected more than ten million euros during the last three editions, in 2021 (10,064,480 EUR), 2022 (10,182,126 EUR, the record) and 2024.

Among the donors of this latest edition, the influencer Léna Situations, one of the most followed French YouTubers, gave 20,000 euros, the Olympic swimming champion Léon Marchand donated 4,500 euros. The footballer Antoine Griezmann offered 3,000 euros. According to ZeratoR, the money raised has for example allowed the Sea Shepherd association to buy a new boat or to finance the operation of a hospital in Central Africa.
