“You might wonder if we’re hearing the same thing as the coaches.”
After the performances of Anastasia, then Louis and Marylou, all selected to continue the adventure “The Voice Kids”, it was Laina who appeared on stage. At only 12 years old, the young girl is a true music lover and has been singing since she was 6. “I listened to lots of music with mom and dad, and one day I wanted to sing at birthdays and parties. I had composed a little piece of music that I had sung to my mother” she explains with great maturity in her presentation video. For Laina, participating in “The Voice Kids” was not only a dream, but also the opportunity to honor her father, to whom she is very close: “The song I’m going to sing in the blind auditions is ‘Meu Pai’, by Tony Carreira. He’s a Portuguese singer who wrote this song in French to talk about his father (…) I’m singing it for my father, to tell him that I love him and that he’s an example.”
And so it was carried by this touching ambition that Laina launched herself on stage, her heart beating but her voice impeccable. From the first notes of the song, Internet users were captivated by the timbre of Laina’s voice and her interpretation in French and Portuguese. For them, it was certain that Laina would go very far. Unfortunately for the young girl, it did not happen at all like that, since neither Lara Fabian, nor Patrick Fiori, Slimane or Claudio Capéo turned around after Laina’s performance. “It was very successful, very charming, I am the first to be sorry for not turning around, because I did not know what to bring you, I did not really feel the thing” apologized Claudio Capéo, while Lara Fabian thanked Laina “for sharing something so personal”.
No matter the comforting words of the coaches, on X, the fans of “The Voice Kids” were disgusted by their decision. According to them, Laina deserved to go all the way to the battles, her performance having touched a large number of Internet users. Anger and incomprehension dominated all the discussions on X on this last evening of the blind auditions…
