This Saturday, September 14, 2024, the French were able to relive the atmosphere of the 2024 Olympic Games one last time. A grand parade of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic champions took place in Paris. This event celebrated the athletes and their exceptional performances during the Games, in the presence of a very enthusiastic audience. The parade allowed supporters to greet the champions and relive the festive atmosphere of this summer. Around 300 Olympic and Paralympic athletes paraded to celebrate the end of this historic sporting summer, accompanied by 8,000 to 10,000 volunteers, members of the organizing committee and public officials.
Beginning with a fireworks display around the Arc de Triomphe, the day brought together 70,000 spectators on the Champs-Élysées. During this ceremony, marked by an atmosphere of national communion, the athletes who shone during the Games received honorary distinctions. They were all rewarded to a great cheer from the crowd. And to close this parade, Teddy Riner, triple gold medalist at the Olympic Games, was promoted to the rank of Commander of the National Order of Merit by Emmanuel Macron. To continue this festive atmosphere, the day ended with a giant concert at the Place de l’Étoile. Needless to say, those present were eagerly awaiting this event. And for those who were unable to attend, France 2 broadcast this concert live on TV. However, the result was far from unanimous on the Web. Indeed, France Télévisions had announced a concert with many artists, and in reality, this event was more like “a giant karaoke” at the Arc de Triomphe. Few singers had made the trip with the exception of Philippe Katerine, Christine and the Queens, Marina Viotti or Amadou et Myriam and Lucky Love.

The Parade of Champions evening therefore took a disastrous turn, as shown by the reactions of spectators on the social network X, the former Twitter. Instead of a live concert with renowned artists, the audience was greeted by a karaoke hosted by Nagui and Léa Salamé, as well as projections of the artists’ performances at previous ceremonies on the Arc de Triomphe. This disappointing lineup sparked a wave of discontent, with Internet users criticizing the quality of the entertainment and the flagrant lack of live performances, which contrasts sharply with the high expectations for this event. For Internet users, this concert leaves a feeling of “scam”. The disappointment was therefore palpable, and the evening, supposed to be a memorable celebration, was instead perceived as a “total fiasco”.
