The apotheosis of Swiss Crans-Montana skiing could fall into the water

Editorial on alpine ski Worlds
In two years, we will relive the apotheosis of Crans-Montana (or not)
The golden generation of Swiss skiing could be at its climax in two, for the World Crans-Montana Worlds. Battery 40 years after the 1987 raid.
The world alpine ski championships that open on Tuesday in Saalbach have everything to become a Swiss ski party in Barbaric land. On the slopes of the great Austrian rival, which is going through a historical crisis, Swiss athletes leave with favors on the side in almost all disciplines.
Skiing is far from an exact science, beware of the inside in bananas, remains that Switzerland never approached Worlds in such an outrageous position of domination.
In descent for example, we are not immune to reliving a scenario at La Crans-Montana 1987, where four Swiss skiers had placed in the first five. 1987, this is perhaps the only point of historical comparison with the current form of the red delegation with white cross. Zurbriggen, Walliser and Cie had then won eight titles out of the ten in play for a total of fourteen medals.
From this paroxysm, curled up in the collective imagination, Swiss skiing could write a second volume, strong from a generation to exceptional density, of that which is found about twice per century. That’s good, held forty years later, the 2027 world championships should take place in Crans-Montana.
“Should”, yes: an candidacy swept away from high struggle but which is now written to the conditional. Since the attribution, nothing is advancing: Oppositions are raining and heads fall. If the organizers assure that they do not worry, they are the only ones.
On the side of Swiss-Ski, we would also have a plan B which would send the best skiers in the world to Saint-Moritz, where apart from a few menus everything is already ready to welcome Worlds.
This would be a resounding failure for the holding of major events in French-speaking Switzerland, in addition to the sad missed meeting with history, so symbolic if it is.
Although: if in Crans-Montana he had snowed charms, it was never really the case in Saint-Moritz, where the Swiss delegation has rarely been at ease. In 1974, for example, Lise-Marie MOREROD won the only Swinging Helvetic medal in Engadine: bronze in slalom with bib 39!
Thank you the Welsches.
