Senegal among the countries chosen

Senegal has been selected to be a part of ten member states of the International Civil Aviation Organization (OACI), for a feasibility study of the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), eligible under the Carbon emissions compensation and reduction program for international aviation (Corsia).
To prepare the next stages of the production of eligible fuel Corsia, in particular SAF, awareness is continuing with all stakeholders, hence the holding of a two -day regional workshop, on February 03 and 04, 2025 in management General of the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (Anacim), Focal of Corsia in Senegal.
The Director General of AANCIM, Dr Diaga Basse, recalled that already in 2019, civil aviation represented around 2 % of world CO emissions2 And this percentage should evolve in the coming years with the increase in air traffic.
A press release from the agency reports that unlike traditional fossil fuels, SAF can allow significant reduction up to 80% of CO emissions2 On their full life cycle, if they meet the sustainability criteria.
According to Dakar’s workshop is held as part of the capacity building program for the attenuation of CO2 emissions from international aviation in Africa and the Caribbean, funded by the European Union and put under the implementation by the Agence of the European Union for Aviation Safety (EASA).
According to Anacim, several entities take part in the face -to -face and online meeting, such as the Ministry of Earthly and Air Infrastructure and Transport, that of the environment and ecological transition, that of energies, oil and mines, National airlines, airport managers such as LAS (Limak-AIBD-SUMMA) and AIBD SA or the Aviation (SMCADY) fuel handling and the Handling 2AS.
A delegation from Togo and made up of representatives of the National Civil Aviation Agency of Togo, the Directorate of Hydrocarbons and the Ministry of the Environment, participates in the work.
