Morocco adopts a collaborative and visionary approach to cybersecurity and technological sovereignty, several experts said on Monday, February 3 in Rabat on Monday, at the African cybersecurity forum from February 3 to 5.

Intervening under the theme “The digital transformation of Africa: adopting cybersecurity and technological sovereignty”, the general of brigade El Mostafa Rabii, director of the center of watch, detection and response to cyberattacs under the general management of the Safety of information systems, stressed the importance of robust and sovereign cybersecurity to ensure resilient digital transformation on the continent.

According to him, Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has made cybersecurity a national priority by implementing governance structures and ambitious strategies. He notably cited efforts to strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructure and capacity development of the National Cyber-Incident Management Center Moroccan Computer Emergency Response Team.

Faced with increasing geopolitical tensions and the evolution of cybermenaces, he insisted on the need for a proactive and coordinated approach, involving innovative technologies to secure digital infrastructure.

The panelists pleaded for an increased international collaboration, based on the sharing of information and the exchange of expertise. Initiatives like Smart Africa and the African network of cybersecurity authorities aim to harmonize digital policies and strengthen the capacities of African countries.

Albert Antwi-Boasiako, Director General of the Cybersecurity Authority of Ghana, praised the role of leader of Morocco on the continent, stressing that Rabat serves as a bridge between Africa and the world. According to him, artificial intelligence is a major opportunity to accelerate the digital transformation of African countries as part of South-South cooperation.

Experts recommended the creation of a Pan -African Cybersecurity structure, inspired by the Arab Cybersecurity Center, in order to improve the sharing of information in real time and the coordination of responses to cyber attacks. Closer cooperation between the African network of cybersecurity authorities and the national cybersecurity centers of the member states of the Islamic Cooperation Organization could also strengthen digital resilience on a regional scale.

By integrating the secure cloud, artificial intelligence and advanced cybersecurity solutions, Africa could build a strong, sovereign and secure digital ecosystem, thus guaranteeing stable and sustainable technological development.
