A new barracks is inaugurated in eastern Sherbrooke

A new fire station has been inaugurated in eastern Sherbrooke. The Hector-Olivier-Camirand barracks, on the Galvin path, will improve the response time in the district of Fleurimont.
The project was carried out with $ 5.3 million, which respects the budget initially planned. The barracks replaces the old installations of Boulevard Lavigerie, which has become too small to meet the needs of a growing population in the district of Fleurimont. Four firefighters will now be present at all times, for a total team of 16 firefighters.
Covering 90 % of the countryside of barracks 4 in less than five minutes, when we talk about saving lives, this is really the importance of the barracks.
The new barracks will have 16 firefighters in total.

The building, built on a floor with mezzanine, was designed to meet the different needs of the population and firefighters. A laundry room plays in particular an important role in decontaminating the outfits after a fire.
There are 15 recognized cancers among firefighters. Soot is an element when it is carcinogenic
explains Martin Primeau.
Do not look for the fire post in the new barracks: they are rare, health-security requires. Sherbrooke stands out otherwise.
$ 5.3 million, to give you comparable, we have four firefighters in other administrative regions where we are in the $ 10, 12 million. We are really in the concrete of our needs with our ability to pay. It’s mission accomplished, I think, on this side
launches the chief of the operations division, Rémy Beaulieu.
