First day of Delta Festival cancelled

Due to heavy rain this Wednesday in Marseille, the first evening of the Delta festival is cancelled. Météo France has placed the Bouches-du-Rhône department on orange alert for rain, flooding and thunderstorms.

The party will not be in full swing on the beaches of Prado this Wednesday. While impressive storms hit Marseille, the first evening of the 10th edition of the Delta festival was canceled this Wednesday, September 4 by the organizers, learned BFM Marseille Provence.

“Following the violent storm and heavy downpours at the festival, Wednesday is cancelled,” the festival said on its Instagram account.

Artists such as Julien Granel, Caravan Palace, Clara Cuvé and Adiel were expected on the four stages. SCH, the Marseille rapper who was supposed to open the show, was cancelled after a fatal shooting at the exit of one of his concerts a week earlier in La Grande-Motte.

Tickets will be refunded

In total, 100 millimetres of rain fell on the Phocaean city in just a few hours.

“Despite all our efforts to anticipate, the violence of the storm currently raging does not allow us to ensure the smooth running of concerts and activities in complete safety,” added the organizers.

In its Instagram post, the festival states that “all festival-goers with a ticket” for this Wednesday will be able to “request a credit or a refund.” The same goes for those with a five-day pass, who will be able to get a refund for their Wednesday day.

The Bouches-du-Rhône department is placed on orange alert for rain, flooding and storms this Wednesday evening and until Thursday, September 5 in the morning.
