Camping on a questionable iceberg in Newfoundland

A resident, the nurse Sarah Ricesaw the campers from the causeway that connects Twillingateand the island of New WorldThursday morning, and she photographed them from afar.

We can see in his photos two people near a tent installed on an iceberg having a horizontal shape.

It almost looked like a stagedshe says.

mrs Rice explains that she had difficulty believing her eyes, that she wondered if these people were rather on a boat behind the iceberg and if it was simply an optical illusion.

Sarah Rice moved along the causeway and she realized that she was indeed seeing these people moving on the iceberg.

We were amazed. The surface was low, but going there with a boat it would tower over your head by several feetestimated Sarah Rice.

She still wonders how intrepid campers were able to climb this icy wall. She says she was worried about their safety.

I understand that people are looking for thrills, but it’s very dangerous because the icebergs suddenly melt and tip over. »

A quote from Sarah Rice, resident of Twillingate

The campers seem to have disappeared from the iceberg without a trace. They have not returned, according to the Coast Guard and municipal authorities.

Twillingate is known for the circulation of icebergs nearby. The region welcomes tourists from all over the world every spring for this reason.
