© City of Carcassonne – Carcassonne is inaugurating a modern, green pump track, and is planning a skate park for 2025, strengthening its urban leisure offering.

The City of Carcassonne continues to develop its sports and leisure infrastructures for young people, as part of an active leisure policy. In December 2024, a pump track was inaugurated near the Garigliano bridge, in the extension of the Païchérou leisure area. This equipment, set up on land partially provided by the Carcassonne metropolitan area, is dedicated to mountain bike and BMX enthusiasts. It is part of a wider initiative to promote urban and board sports, the popularity of which continues to grow, as shown by the constant influx of visitors since its opening.

The project was carried out in collaboration with Vincent Massardierinternational BMX Dirt Freestyle champion and founder of BMX STYLE, a company specializing in the design of pump tracks. This partnership has enabled the City of Carcassonne to create a high-quality development, meeting the needs of practitioners of all levels.

Equipment that meets expectations

The new pump track covers 1,000 m², making it the largest in the region. Designed with bumps and banked turns, it offers a circuit suitable for both beginners and experts looking to perfect their skills. This project is not limited to simple sports equipment. It also includes landscaping with the planting of nearly 100 trees. These plants will help create a green corridor which will connect the pump track to the Païchérou leisure area, thus promoting biodiversity.

A versatile and friendly space

In addition to the track, the City has planned the installation of other sports and leisure infrastructures nearby. An area of crossfit The outdoor area has been set up to diversify the activities available. An area dedicated to Tai Chi will also be created, allowing practitioners to practice in a natural and green setting. Benches have been installed around the track to provide rest areas for visitors and reinforce the convivial aspect of this space. A picnic area has also been created, allowing you to fully enjoy this place of relaxation.

This project represents an investment of €260,000, a budget which reflects the City's commitment to offering modern and accessible facilities to all, while contributing to the attractiveness of the municipality. In 2025, Carcassonne will continue its efforts in urban sports with the installation of a large skate park near the pump track. The current skate park, located on Boulevard de Warsovie, will be demolished to make way for the creation of the bus station. The future nature and leisure zone will thus bring together various facilities: pump track, skate park, crossfit area, Taï-Chi area and picnic area, to offer a unique setting to residents and visitors of Carcassonne.
