Belgium can dream: the impact of the Union’s qualification and the good distribution of Bruges on the UEFA coefficient – All football

Belgium can dream. Club Brugge is missing almost nothing for the five representatives of our championship to pass the league stage. A huge performance.

This Thursday evening, Union Saint-Gilloise ensured its qualification for the Europa League play-off after its victory against Braga on the potato field at the King Baudouin stadium.

A success which is very expensive, since it brings 0.450 points to the UEFA coefficient, not counting the bonus which will be awarded depending on the final place of the Belgian vice-champion, who will finish, at worst, 24th.

There was no success for Sporting Anderlecht, logically beaten in Plzen. The Mauves were, however, already assured of their place in the top 24, and can still dream of the top 8. Anderlecht will finish, at worst, 14th in the league phase.

On the way to the “full house”!

In the Champions League, Club Brugge won a crucial point against Juventus. It would now take an unthinkable alignment of planets for the Blauw & Zwart not to see the dam. In the event of a defeat at Manchester City, Bruges would finish between 20th and 24th place.

By adding the two already known qualifications of La Gantoise and Cercle de Bruges, in the Conference League, Belgium is experiencing a historic year, and can still dream. This week, our representatives regained 0.850 points in Portugal, which had a clean sheet.

Belgium is currently the 4th best nation of the season, knowing that the first two will receive an additional place for the next edition of the Champions League. But above all, the Pro League continues to move closer to Portugal and the Netherlands, who will lose many more points than us over the next two years. In the medium term, sixth place is far from unimaginable for Belgium.
