: French Bryan Coquard won on the Down Under Tour

The Frenchman Bryan Coquard launches the season in the most beautiful way for his team Cofidis by winning the fourth stage of the Down Under Tour on Friday in Victor Harbor, near Adélaïde. It is already the 53rd professional victory for “Le Coq” which becomes, at 32, the tenth active runner with the greatest number of successes in the peloton.

He raises his arms for the third time in the World Tour, the first division, after having already won the 4th stage of the Down Under Tour in 2023 and a stage of the Tour de Suisse last season. “J'Love this country! I knew that the best chance of winning was today. I relied on my experience to win. It's a perfect day“, commented the sprinter of Saint-Nazaire who won the finish photo in front of the German Phil Bauhaus and the Equatorian Jhonatan Narvaez.

Romo leader of a short head

This is also excellent news for his Cofidis team which fights for its survival in the World Tour while we start the third and last season of the promotion/relegation cycle. The northern training is currently in the 18th world rank, the last one that allows you to stay in the gratin for the next three years. The Spaniard Javier Romo retains the head of the general classification with four seconds ahead of Jhonatan Narvaez before the last two stages this weekend, including that potentially decisive on Saturday with the double ascension of Willunga Hill.
