He was director of government relations at Royal Dutch Shell (2012–2017), sailing in complex global regulatory environments.
-Earlier in his career in the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, he held the positions of British ambassador to Morocco and Mauritania (2017–2018), deputy chief of mission at the British Embassy in Egypt (2010–2012) , Deputy chief of the Department of Climate Change and Energy (2007–2009) and deputy chief of the Department of Terrorism (2005–2007).
