SENEGAL-SOCIETE / Saint-Louis: improving access for disabled people to assistive technologies on the menu of a workshop – Senegalese press agency

Saint-Louis, Jan 23 (APS) – The Project to improve access for disabled people to assistive technologies was presented Thursday to grassroots stakeholders in Saint-Louis (north), in the presence of administrative authorities of the region, noted the APS.

“We had the pleasure of welcoming the Director General of Social Action and his team to Saint-Louis. They presented the project to improve access to assistive technologies for people living with disabilities,” declared the deputy governor of Saint-Louis, in charge of administrative affairs, Sidy Guissé Diongue.

Mr. Diongue spoke with journalists on the sidelines of the workshop to share the objectives of the state of implementation of the Project to improve access for people with disabilities to assistive technologies.

“When we talk about assistive technologies,” he explained, “we think of prosthetics, glasses, wheelchairs, which these people need to be much more mobile.”

This meeting was an opportunity to revitalize the multisectoral disability management committee in the Saint-Louis region, he added.

The administrative authority also magnified the participation of grassroots stakeholders in this meeting.

In the opinion of the Director General of Social Action, Boucar Diouf, the establishment of this committee is part of the democratization of access to services for disabled people.

The prefect of the department of Saint-Louis, Abou Sow, the director of the promotion and protection of disabled people, Mamadou Lamine Faty, the regional director of social action of Saint-Louis, Aliou Dia Guèye, among other personalities took part in this activity.
