Indy found himself trapped on May 28 when he wanted to catch his bus at Gare du Nord. He found himself surrounded by seven young people aged 16 to 20 who went so far as to cut off the tip of his finger. After stealing his phone, his headphones, his cash, his tram pass and his identity card, they then fled while Indy lay unconscious on the ground.
His mother gave a rant in our columns. “The police did not even take his statement. It was my son who, 15 days later, once he had left the hospital, went to the Lennik police to file a complaint. We “We haven’t received any follow-up yet, it’s a real shame”, she castigated.
For his part, Marc Bronzini obviously hopes that the culprits will be found even if he is well aware that the chances are slim. “Certainly there are many surveillance cameras on Rue Neuve but I know that many do not work and simply play a deterrent role. It is the same thing on the Parc du Cinquantenaire side. The son of a friend was attacked there but the cameras were not working…”, he concludes.
-Matheo, 22, beaten and left for dead by five young people in Rue Neuve: “If the city center is not protected, where could we be?”
An almost similar attack occurred on Matheo, another 22-year-old young man who was violently attacked in Rue Neuve on December 21. The suspects were not found there either.
