a wall collapses near the keep in Châtillon-sur-Indre

The stone wall collapsed with a crash in a small street in Châtillon-sur-Indre, Thursday January 23, 2025. Two days earlier, “a worrying movement [une fissure de 10 cm] had been reported in the retaining wall located at 24 rue Isorée »communicates the mayor. Access to the street had been closed as a precaution, and rightly so. After the collapse of this retaining wall – which serves to create a difference in height – the security perimeter was widened and “access to certain street garages is now restricted”.

Vigilance will go up a notch around the dungeon mound: “A clod moves all the time, underlines Gérard Nicaudwe will step up surveillance. » Several houses were destroyed on the street around the 2000s, which, according to the mayor, would have destabilized the remaining structures. The collapsed wall was actually the back wall of one of these destroyed buildings.
