Indre-et-: what is this giant goat project that will be installed on the A10?

In , many regions are identifiable by sculptures which mark the entrance to a territory. In Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine (Indre-et-), an artist has hoped for many years to see his work installed one day near the A10. As recalled The New Republicit is a goat 7 meters high and long.

Imagined in 2007 to represent the region and its famous goat's cheese, this project was put aside for several years but is once again relevant. Tuesday January 21, a subsidy agreement granted by the Centre-Val de Loire Region was signed at the Château de Sainte-Maure. It provides financial aid of 97,000 euros, for a total budget estimated at 405,000 euros.

An inauguration in spring 2026?

It now remains to convince other communities to participate in the project, or even the State and Europe. Private financing could also be added. “Many patrons were waiting for this official green light to finally be able to participate in the project… And I emphasize that it is tax-exempt” indicates the sculptor.

The structure will be made in layers, in fiberglass resin and gelcoat. If all goes well, it should be completely installed and inaugurated in spring 2026. “We hope that this work, installed near the exit, will encourage people to come to us, to meet the producers, to visit the country,” had entrusted the mayor of the town to France 3 Centre-Val de Loire in April.
