Families present at the McDonald's restaurant at the Saisons de Meaux shopping center in Chauconin-Neufmontiers (Seine-et-Marne) witnessed a surreal scene, Wednesday January 22, 2025.

Shortly after 1 p.m., three young people burst into the restaurant and attacked a 17-year-old minor with knives sitting at a table with friends. According to the Meaux deputy prosecutor, there was no prior altercation.

The victim, injured in the thigh and side, was transported without seriousness to Meaux hospital. The attackers, for their part, left as if nothing had happened.

Police officers from the Meaux police station were tasked with the investigation into attempted intentional homicide. They used the video surveillance cameras of the fast food restaurant but also those of the City of Meaux and quickly managed, in just a few hours, to find the suspects' car parked in the heart of the Beauval district.

A 20-year-old Meldois man was arrested and taken into police custody. This Thursday, January 23 in the morning, two other suspects were also arrested and also placed in police custody.

According to a police source, at present, the three attackers are still at the police station and the investigation continues to try to understand their motivations. “The goal is also that the situation does not flare up in the event that it is an altercation between gangs,” estimates the Meaux public prosecutor’s office. The latter should also decide the fate of the accused this Friday.
