On the morning of the second day of the trial, the debates focused on the personality of the third accused, a long-time friend of the victim's parents and tormentors.
Also prosecuted for rape of a minor, he was madly in love with the main accused, who also handed over his child to dozens of strangers. Although he confessed to being guilty of these sexual crimes, he claims to have committed them in fear of losing his loved one and “savior”.
A childhood marked by “double abandonment” and homophobia
His role in this sordid affair finds its source in the “double abandonment” that he experienced when he was younger, as psychiatric and psychological expertise attests. That of his father already, who left the family home when he was three years old. And that of his adopted father, whom he called “dad” for a long time, before the latter abandoned him and psychologically abused him. His mother confirms: “He started calling him 'the other person's son' after the birth of his half-brother. ” When he recognized his homosexuality, at the dawn of his majority, the situation deteriorated further: “He called him 'the other fag'”, she says, “stunned” to see his son “within the walls of a court”.
“Easy prey”?
After breaking off all contact with his family, the accused began a career in catering, with a BEP “narrowly obtained”. The work was going badly. Like at school, he was subject to bullying. His overweight made him a target: “My boss called me “fat guy”. »
On a personal level, it wasn't any better. “He experiences his sexuality in a frustrating way, having a series of one-night stands,” reports an expert. He also mismanaged his money and regularly found himself in debt. In 2012, when he was only 20 years old and a “rag”, he met the main accused in his perfume store in Burgundy. Quickly, their friendship turned into an intimate relationship. “It was easy prey,” underlines an expert psychologist interviewed.
Rape “to please”
After following the man and his wife to Brittany, where they had just moved, he lived with them for a while before becoming independent for a few years. But, in difficulty again, he returned a few years later. The incestuous closed session had already begun.
Despite his sexual orientation, he began by sleeping with the woman “to please” the main accused, before “he admitted to having fallen in love with his eldest daughter and suggested that he do the same thing with her”.
-He accepted. Here again, without taking pleasure in it, as confirmed by the victim and the two other accused. “How many times he told her no,” reports the second accused in particular. But the father insisted, sometimes in a virulent manner. “He was always present or in a side room,” specifies the thirty-year-old.
“It’s impossible for me to forget him”
Did he really realize the criminal acts he was committing? “He was aware that it was not moral but he was terrified of the idea of losing him, of being abandoned again,” analyzes a psychiatrist, for whom “the influence was clear”.
Questioned by President Juliette Sauvez, the main person concerned is less categorical. After several silences and hesitations, he said: “I admit to having been dependent, I needed him for every decision. I was afraid of losing him.”
Feelings that have not completely faded, as he wrote to his mother, with whom he reconnected during his detention: “Sorry, but for the moment, it is impossible for me to forget her. He's doing badly, very badly. He has already been attacked several times while walking and I am the only one who can help him.”
