must take urgent measures against the pollution of drinking water”

In , a chemical compound, trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), was found in the drinking water of a large majority of towns where it was searched for. This is the result of a study, carried out by the consumer association UFC-Que Choisir as well as the environmental NGO Générations futures and published Thursday January 23.

Drinking water in France is massively contaminated with PFAS, these chemical substances, also called “ eternal pollutants » because they degrade only very slowly or not at all in the environment. An investigation carried out by UFC-Que Choisir and Future Generations in the drinking water of 30 French cities not only looked for the most widespread PFAS, but also for a chemical compound which is not currently the subject of drinking water control measures by regional health agencies : the TFA.
