Chis signing, which took place at the ministry’s headquarters, is part of Morocco’s efforts to regionally integrate electricity markets and networks, including several European countries.
In detail, the project provides for the installation of a new power line which will strengthen transmission capacities between the two nations and promote the increased use of renewable energies.
The project is accompanied by other similar initiatives with Spain, where an agreement provides for the increase in the capacity of the existing line from 900 MW to 1550 MW, and with Portugal, for a new connection of 1000 MW.
-These initiatives were presented by Minister Benali during a meeting with the Infrastructure Committee at the House of Representatives, where she outlined Morocco’s national energy policy.
She also recalled that on November 8, 2022, during the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties, a memorandum of understanding was signed with several European countries for a roadmap on the exchange of electricity from renewable sources.
