What to do this weekend in Belgium? Our agenda for January 25 and 26

What are we doing this weekend? Le Vif Weekend gives you ideas for having a good time, in Brussels and Wallonia, outside and inside. Have fun!

We immerse ourselves in beauty, in Brussels

This weekend, more than 130 exhibitors from 16 different countries met at Palais 12 in Brussels for the 70e BRAFA edition. The very prestigious fair returns until February 2 to celebrate beauty and excellence.

For this lovely anniversary, the work of Portuguese visual artist Joana Vasconcelos is highlighted since she has been named guest of honor. Renowned for her textile work and her monumental sculptures, the artist questions with humor and irony the status of women, our consumer societies and our collective identities. Two of its gigantic valkyries will therefore be exhibited during the fair.

We’re having a movie (but not only that) in Tournai

Last weekend to enjoy the Ramdam Festival which opened its cinemas last Friday. For its fifteenth edition, the disturbing film festival continues to introduce the general public to films that are shocking, questioning or thought-provoking. Uniting past and contemporary achievements, the program draws reflections of the world of yesterday and today, its faults and the urgency of acting to plug them.

Throughout the weekend, several screenings, meetings and debates will be held, all at more than attractive prices.

We put our hands in the clay, in Brussels

After a successful first edition which attracted no less than 13,000 visitors, Ceramic Brussels is back at it again and intends to transform the experiment. The first contemporary art fair dedicated to ceramics is opening its doors again this weekend.

For this second edition, the fair turns a little more towards modern art but also towards Norway since, in collaboration with Norwegian Crafts, Ceramic Brussels offers an exceptional immersion within the Norwegian art scene thanks to the participation of 5 galleries: QB Gallery, RAM Galleri, Kiosken, Format, and Skog Art Space. It’s on display until January 26.

We experience the sensitive, in Morlanwelz

It has been 60 years since the collections from Asia at the Royal Museum of Mariemont had last seen the light of day. A passage in the shadows considered a bit too long since with the arrival of autumn, the latter were taken out of their reserve for a unique exhibition Buddha, the Experience of the Sensible.

Choosing Buddha as the figure of incarnation of this imagination of the Far East is not trivial but through this new exhibition, we offer ourselves a dive into the heart of Buddhism. A philosophical and religious practice which attracts more and more followers in Europe and Belgium and a true object of fascination, the exhibition thus questions the numerous representations of Buddha, the Buddhist pantheon and the numerous associated rites.
