With 10,241,392 containers processed in 2024, Tangier Med shows growth of 18.8% compared to 2023. This result is the result of the commitment of port operators, shipping lines and teams from the complex. The commissioning of new equipment, the strengthening of installations and the optimization of maritime stopswhich reduced waiting and maneuvering times, were essential levers of this performance.
Ro-ro activity driven by industrial products
The port handled 516,842 TIR trucks (international road transit) in 2024, recording an increase of 8.1% compared to the previous year. This increase is mainly driven by industrial products, up 6.8%, and agri-food products, which increased by 7.2%.
Passenger activity: more than 3 million travelers
In 2024, 3,047,387 passengers passed through Tangier Medan increase of 13% compared to 2023. The campaign Welcomea key moment in passenger transit, largely contributed to this performance.
Handling of new vehicles: continued growth
Tanger Med vehicle terminals handled 600,872 vehicles in 2024, an increase of 4%. This figure includes 368,843 vehicles exported by Renault factories (Melloussa et SOMACA), 170,519 vehicles from the factory Stellar has Kenitraas well as 34,100 transhipment vehicles and 27,410 imported vehicles.
-Hydrocarbon traffic down 22%
Solid bulk stagnated with a slight growth of 1%, totaling 584,945 tonnes. On the other hand, the hydrocarbon trafficking fell by 22%, reaching 7,640,524 tonnes. This drop is mainly due to the transfer of part of imports to new storage facilities in other Moroccan ports.
Overall tonnage and maritime calls on the rise
The port complex handled 142 million tonnes of goods in 2024, an increase of 16.2% compared to 2023. At the same time, 17,479 maritime calls were recorded (+3.42%), including 1,217 mega-ships larger than 290 meters, marking an increase of 13.74%.
