He promised them money to lure them to his home, a sixty-year-old suspected of having raped two children

A sixty-year-old man was indicted on Wednesday in Vesoul for rape, sexual assault and violence against two children aged 8 and 9. The events took place in the Grand Grésil district where the man allegedly lured the victims to his home.

On Saturday, the two children were found in the street, one naked and the other partially naked, after having managed to escape from their attacker's apartment. They described their attacker as a “gentleman with a white beard” who approached them on their way to a skate park.

A “personal revenge” against society

“They explained that the accused had promised them money if they followed him home. Worried about the turn of events, the minors tried to leave while they were in the elevator but the sixty-year-old slapped them,” declared prosecutor Etienne Manteaux during a press conference.

The man was quickly arrested at his home, where the victims' clothes were found. According to the prosecutor, “the accused admits to the facts of sexual assault, but not rape, explaining that he “lost his temper, unable to control himself” when he saw these minors.” The accused also spoke of a “personal revenge”, saying he was “forgotten by society”. The suspect is not his first case: he had already been convicted in 2008 for rape and sexual assault of a minor under 15 years old. At the end of his hearing, he was placed in pre-trial detention.
