Automotive industry: Morocco in the top 5 most attractive Arab countries for investment in 2024

Morocco is one of the five most popular destinations attractions in the Arab world for the automobile industry in 2024. The Arab Organization for Guarantee and Insurance of Investments and Export Credit (All), based in Kuwaitunderlines this in its fourth sectoral report for 2024 on the automobile industry in Arab countries.

This group, composed of Morocco, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Algeria and Egyptattracted 145 foreign projects, accounting for 79% of the total number of projects. Cumulative investment of these projects is valued at more than $22 billion (89% of the total investment), according to the Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA).

In total, more than 91,000 jobs were created thanks to these projects, representing 89% of the total jobs created by the sector in the Arab world in 2024.

On their own, the Chinese investments (27 projects with a total value of $8 billion) account for 20,000 of these jobs created.

In this group, the United Arab Emirates come first.

Automobile sales: Morocco also in the top 5

According to Dhaman, the Kingdom is also in the list of 5 countries which have achieved the most automobile sales in the Arab world. The group, made up of Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Algeria, would account for around 75% of the 1.8 million motor vehicle sales estimated for 2024 (+4.5% compared to to 2023). A segment where Saudi Arabia ranks first with a market share of 45%.

As a reminder, the Moroccan automobile market recorded 176,401 sales in 2024 (+9.22% over one year). An increase which did not make it possible to reach the historic level of 2018 (177,400 sales), according to data made public by the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM). The association’s figures also revealed sustained growth in the “electrified vehicles” segment.
