The Hells Angels of the Quebec region, whose 35th anniversary this weekend, have become a “family business” that is passed down from one generation to another, like the Montreal mafia.
This is the astonishing observation drawn by the Quebec police intelligence services in recent internal reports to which our Investigation Bureau had access.
Tightly knit, the “Quebec City” chapter, in the jargon of the bikers who baptized it in English, is the only one among the five of the gang in the province to be composed of as many brothers, father and son duos or members and nephews.
Several of its founding members who wore the jacket adorned with a winged skull since May 16, 1988, and who were able to escape the fearsome hitman Gérald Gallant during their bloody war against the Rock Machine in the 90s, now have succession from their own families.
Red Devils
This is the case of Marc “Tom” Pelletier, 69, the ex-president of the chapter who made himself known by becoming the first official “spokesperson” – and one of the only – of the Hells in Quebec. giving interviews to journalists in the late 1980s.

His son Mathieu is currently the only “prospect” – or aspirant – of the club. The 31-year-old biker, who also wore the colors of the Red Devils, the school club of the Hells, could therefore join his father shortly by becoming the 16th member in good standing of the Quebec chapter.
The same goes for Alain “Judas” Harton, 68, another founding member of the gang in the capital.
His nephew Daniel, 46, is also on file with the police as a member of the Red Devils.
For his part, the dean and former leader of the Quebec chapter, Daniel “Gros Dan” Hudon, 72, has two of his nephews among the relatives of this criminal organization.
One of them, Ralph Hudon, 39, is also a Red Devils player, as is his uncle, Richard “Ti-Bob” Hudon, 62.
“He seems to be the perfect candidate to take over the reins of the family business”, writes the Sûreté du Québec about Ralph Hudon in one of these reports, in reference to the drug trafficking and other illicit activities that the Hudon clan is involved in. suspected of controlling a vast territory between the South Shore of Quebec and the Bas-Saint-Laurent.
Other cases
Ralph Hudon’s father, Bruno, was also part of the Hells of the Quebec chapter before leaving the gang on good terms during the 90s.
As for “Marco” Roberge, another Hells veteran from Quebec, he would count on one of his brothers and one of his nephews among his associates in the underworld.
Roberge, a defector from the Rock Machine organization, is suspected of being involved in drug trafficking by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, like most Hells in the country.
The most notorious father-son duo in the Quebec history of the Hells is undoubtedly that of Aurèle and Mario Brouillette, two ex-members of the Trois-Rivières chapter.
In the early 2000s, Mario was seen as Maurice “Mom” Boucher’s “dolphin” to lead the gang, but the police stopped him by sending him to serve two consecutive lengthy prison sentences.
In 2008, his father Aurèle was one of the Quebec Hells behind the establishment of the band’s chapter in the Dominican Republic.
A hundred bikers from all over the province would be expected this afternoon, in Beauce, for the 35th anniversary festivities of the Hells Angels of Quebec. The rally will be held in Frampton, in a residence of the 2nd row which serves as the premises of the Hells. The party will take place all weekend under the surveillance of police officers from the Sûreté du Québec, who will notably set up road checkpoints to verify the identity of the bikers on site.
The Hells Angels of Quebec exert a “total control” on the drug market of their vast territory, in a flat calm which would make jealous in Montreal and its suburbs.
The Hells “completely dominate” the criminal market in the regions of the Capitale-Nationale, Chaudière-Appalaches, Beauce, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Côte-Nord regions where bikers have no competition, according to recent police reports consulted by our Investigation Office.
The last two bikers who graduated from the Hells of Quebec, Alexandre Maltais, 42, and Sylvain Marcotte, 52, would impose their “authority” in some of these regions.
“This situation differs significantly from that found in comparable regions on the urban level, such as Laval or Montreal. In these cities, the main actors of organized crime have much more diversified origins and ties,” it is mentioned in these internal documents.

The day and the night
Consequences of conflicts linked to Montreal street gangs to the Italian mafia, bikers and other criminal groups, bullets have been whistling one day in three on the streets of the metropolis since the beginning of 2023, according to a compilation of crimes with gunshots recently reported in The Journal of Montreal.
In comparison, in the capital where gangs and the mafia are absent or almost absent, it is rather every 73 days that we hear gunshots, according to data released by the police of Quebec for the years 2020 and 2021.
In addition, in Montreal, there have been nearly thirty victims of murders linked to organized crime over the past two and a half years.
But in Quebec, the last deadly settling of accounts associated with bikers dates back to November 2018.
Since 2019, the Quebec police (SPVQ) has set up the Malsain project to suppress violence and the use of firearms by organized crime, although the situation remains marginal compared to the metropolis.
The SPVQ has obtained four of the 65 million dollars that the Legault government has injected since 2020 into all the police squads fighting against this scourge.
The new number one of the Hells Angels in Quebec, Martin Gamache, is also considered by the police as one of the 10 most influential criminals in the entire province.
“Martin Gamache has been controlling drug trafficking in the territory of Quebec City for several years. He seems to have the confidence of his colleagues (from the Hells) in the exercise of this function, ”we can read about him in a recent internal report of police intelligence which our Bureau of investigation was able to read.

Martin Gamache, photographed in 2008 on a beach in the Dominican Republic where the Quebec Hells sponsored, the same year, the creation of the first chapter of the motorcycle gang in this country.
The 52-year-old biker is said to be a “close collaborator” of a former president of the Quebec chapter, Marc Pelletier, as well as Hells veterans Jonathan Robert and Marc Roberge.
Frondeur on Facebook
Gamache, nicknamed “Gam” in the underworld, had been talked about in the summer of 2018 when he did not hesitate to taunt and publicly criticize the Sûreté du Québec after he and other bikers had were arrested by a patroller on Route 175, in the Laurentides wildlife reserve.
He had posted on Facebook a video recording of the intervention which he filmed with his phone and during which he ridiculed the policeman because the latter was holding a taser in his hand while he checked their papers.
“He wants to taser me!” “, he said with a hint of sarcasm, referring to the English name of the weapon in question, triggering bursts of laughter from his comrades on motorcycles. In the end, he received no fine.
A member of the Hells since 2004, Gamache was incarcerated from 2009 to 2016 after his conviction for conspiracy to murder in Operation SharQc. During his detention, the one then nicknamed “Big Gam” lost 50 kg.
