As tax season dawns, Revenu Québec would like to remind you of some tips to help the population prepare well.

First of all, the agency announces that the ImpôtNet Québec service will go online on February 24.

It is therefore from now on that it will be possible to transmit tax returns for the year 2024 produced with the help of authorized software.

It should be noted that this tax season will extend until April 30, 2025.

In order to help the population prepare for this time of year, Revenu Québec recommends the following advice:

  1. Start now to gather all the information and documents required, such as your various statements, your notice of assessment from the previous year and your supporting documents for medical expenses, tuition fees or charitable donations. Note that you do not have to attach them to the tax return, but you must keep them so that you can provide them to us upon request.
  2. Find out about the main changes for the 2024 tax year. Among these, there is in particular a new form for the declaration relating to cryptoassets (TP-21.4.39) if you acquire, hold or use cryptoassets during a tax year. There are also various changes to contributions to the Quebec Pension Plan that may concern you.
  3. Find out about the important dates for submitting the declaration and paying a balance.
  4. Log in to the personalized and secure My File space for citizens to access information regarding your tax file as well as a host of practical online services. For example, you can register for direct deposit, update your address or banking information, consent to communications being sent electronically only, or view the processing status of your return.
  5. Visit the digital platform justpourtous.ca

Furthermore, this year will be the last where the printed books used to produce the income tax return will be distributed elsewhere than in Revenu Québec reception offices or Services Québec offices.

-

For several years, Revenu Québec has sent a printed notebook by mail to all people who filed their return using it the previous year.

This measure had the effect of reducing the number of people who used a printed pamphlet from a financial institution.

Postal mailings to the individuals concerned will be made in the coming weeks.

However, it is still possible to obtain a paper version of the tax return by ordering it online or by telephone.
