PSG leaves Naples in trouble with the new Maradona

After finally agreeing to let go of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for a nice check for 75ME, Napoli must now find a replacement. Aurelio De Laurentiis is ready to reinvest a large part of his recent gains, but the negotiations are tough.

For a few days, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is officially no longer a Naples player. The Georgian, great architect of the final championship title – the first for the Neapolitans since 1990 – at the end of the 2022-2023 season, has never lost the reputation that he had managed to build since his arrival in Italy. Sold for more than 75 million euros to Saint-Germain, it allows Napoli's coffers to replenish themselves. A total which should also allow the partenopei leaders to replace the one whom the club's supporters took pleasure in nicknamed “Kvaradona”. However, the negotiations are seriously slipping.

Naples dreams of its new Maradona, but…

According to the latest information from the Italian press, through Il Mattino, Napoli have made Alejandro Garnacho their new Maradona. Manchester United's Argentine winger is seen as the ideal successor to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, the negotiations reached a standstill. According to the Neapolitan daily, the city's flagship club offered a check for 50 million euros to the Red Devils to afford their striker. A proposal kindly declined by the Mancunian management, who does not want to let go of their player for less than 65 million euros. At least, for now.

Negotiations between all parties will resume very soon. It remains to be seen whether Aurelio De Laurentiis will agree to revise his proposal upwards, while managing to convince his counterparts at Manchester United to lower the price a little for the Argentinian. As a reminder, Alejandro Garnacho scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists in 32 games this season. Enough to make him the new Maradona of Napoli?
