The Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleau announced this Wednesday, January 22, the arrest of an Algerian influencer who incited violent acts.

“The Algerian influencer Rafik Meziane who called for violent acts to be committed on French territory on TikTok was arrested this morning. Thank you to the investigators and the police for their professionalism”he wrote on X. The man was arrested in the 13th arrondissement of .

This arrest comes in the midst of diplomatic tensions between Paris and Algiers, while several Algerian influencers have been arrested in recent weeks in France, notably with the case of the 59-year-old Algerian influencer, “Doualemn”, arrested in after a video on TikTok, deported to Algeria and returned the same evening to France.
