The mayor of Réding, Denis Loutre, begins his thirtieth year of municipal involvement this year. “I joined the municipal council in 1995 with the desire to shake things up. » The problem is that the funding is no longer keeping up. State grants increased from €350,000 in 2015 to €60,000 today. The numbers speak for themselves. “The key words in 2025 are economy and rationalization,” concedes Denis Loutre. This is also why I did not want to organize a wish ceremony. I'm not original but it's a framework that can't be ignored. »

The concern at the start of the year is also the demographic decline. “Twenty years ago, we had three hundred and twenty students for ten classes in our schools, today there are only one hundred and fifty-five for eight classes,” notes the mayor. The city's population fell by 1.8% this year (2,356 inhabitants as of January 1). Should we consider a new subdivision when the last one left us with a debt of €700,000? The idea would be to find a real estate developer who would take charge of the file. So many questions, and the list is not exhaustive, that need to be answered. Decisions are never easy to make. »
“The boxes are full”
Several investments are planned for this year. “The synthetic football field which dates from 2003 needs to be redone for the proper functioning of a club with more than 250 members,” says Denis Loutre. The budget is around €950,000. We will see in February if the requested subsidies will be there. We cannot control everything and we cannot take the risk of bankrupting the municipality.” However, the mayor does not want to complain. “There are plenty of projects in the pipeline. For example, I would like to install photovoltaic panels on the roof of the village hall to produce the electricity necessary for the needs of various structures including the town hall. Completing projects and ensuring the well-being of residents is my guiding principle. Réding, with its associations, is in no way a dormitory town. »
