“I have decided to support the candidacy of my colleague Luc Rabouin. His in-depth thinking, his experience and his in-depth knowledge of Montreal make him the person best prepared to take on the challenges that await us,” indicated Mr.me Vodanovic on his Facebook account at the end of the day.

She maintains that her choice is motivated “by the alignment of ideas” that she shares with Mr. Rabouin for the future, as well as by her vision of the city in general.

From a more personal point of view, the elected official also claims to have realized in recent weeks to what extent she is “particularly attached to the citizens of Lachine” whom she has represented for more than a decade now.

“We have set up several projects together which are progressing well, but which still require a lot of work. New challenges in our community also concern me and require my full attention,” underlined Mr.me Vodanovic, without giving further details.

For the future, she promises to continue to “participate in this race”, by “proposing concrete solutions to the problems of our city”.

This means that the race will now be run by five people. In addition to Luc Rabouin, the mayor of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Gracia Kasoki Katahwa, the mayor of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension, Laurence Lavigne Lalonde, the former president of Projet Montréal , Guedwig Bernier, and Étienne-Desmarteau district councilor, Ericka Alneus, took the plunge.

The leadership race will officially begin on February 3, which means that debates could then be organized and that candidates could hold mobilization activities.

In total, the electoral period will last almost a month and a half, culminating in polling day, March 15. It is on this day that we will know who will succeed Valérie Plante in view of the next municipal elections, November 2, 2025.

In opposition, it is still pending at the moment. The Ensemble Montréal party, which is still struggling to find a star candidate, had initially given candidates until December 15 to come forward, in order to launch its race on January 9, but had to postpone everything to an indefinite date. No new details have yet been given on this subject.
