Jérôme Dethes, member of the office of the Confédération Paysanne de Haute-Savoie, was our guest to discuss the many challenges facing French farmers, particularly those in our region.
He highlighted the threats posed by free trade treaties, such as Mercosur or CETA, which favor the importation of agricultural products that are often less respectful of environmental and social standards than those applied in France.
He also insisted on the importance of protecting local and sustainable agriculture, essential to preserve our food sovereignty, support small producers, and limit the environmental impact linked to mass imports. Faced with these pressures, the Confédération paysanne continues to defend the rights of farmers and to promote an agricultural model that respects people and nature.
