The Jura will be well represented at the Swiss Badminton Championships

Last weekend the qualifying round for the 2025 Swiss Championships took place in Geneva. On the shores of Lake Geneva, the regional players shone and there will be six who will set off in two weeks to try to conquer the Grail.
Although January marks the start of the year, it is arguably already the most important month for badistas. Qualifications for the Swiss championships were held this weekend in Geneva. The eight best singles players as well as the eight best doubles and mixed pairs in the country were already automatically qualified. The next 64 players in the ranking, as well as the next 32 pairs, competed for the last eight places available in each category. Thanks to a successful weekend, Jura residents will be present in all disciplines during the finals, still in Geneva, in two weeks.
Marion Varrin, player from BC Courrendlin, had a flawless performance this weekend. Without conceding a single set, she qualified in singles, in doubles with her club partner Eugénie Chapuis, as well as in mixed with Valais’ Robin Gerber (BC Lausanne). Eugénie Chapuis, for her part, also won her mixed ticket in a pair with Noé Varrin. She will therefore be entered in two disciplines during the finals. This will also be the case for Noé Varrin, captain of BC Courrendlin who, in addition to his mixed qualification, had a very good performance in singles. During the final draw, he will face another Jura native, Lorrain Joliat, in the first round for a 100% local duel. The latter, a member of the national framework and LNA player at Yverdon, was already automatically qualified for the finals. Finally, Adrian Joliat, player from BC La Chaux-de-Fonds, qualified brilliantly in the men’s doubles with the Valaisan Valentin Berra (BC Uni Berne). His teammate with the Abeilles, Matthieu Beuchat, will also participate in this same category in a duo with another Chaux-de-Fondier player.
