Minister François-Noël Buffet does not exclude “a few exceptions” to the “unconditional principle” of free mountain rescue

The Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior spoke out after several risky behaviors observed in the mountains this winter.

“There is no taboo” in the event of abuse and deliberate risk-taking, declared to “ici Pays de Savoie” (formerly Bleu) Monday January 20 François-Noël Buffet, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Interior, during a trip in Haute-Savoie dedicated to the Beauvau of Civil Security. “I believe that it is an unconditional principle, but it is a principle which can be subject to some exceptions”he explained, regarding free mountain rescue.

Several risky behaviors have marked the news in recent days in the mountains. On the night of Tuesday January 14 to Wednesday January 15, at least thirty skiers wanted to enjoy a night hike in Aillons-Margeriaz, in Savoie, while the snow groomers were at work on the slopes.
