Rosso, Jan 20 (APS) – The Rosso customs office, a branch of the Northern Regional Customs Directorate, achieved 12 billion 780 million CFA francs in tax revenue in 2024, out of a target set at 11 billion 780 million of CFA francs, we learned on Monday from its leader, Lieutenant-Colonel Abdoulaye Ndiaye.
»Out of an annual objective set at 11 billion 780 million CFA francs, the office was able to achieve 12 billion 780 million CFA francs. Which constitutes a positive shift of two billion two hundred in absolute value and 10% in relative value,” said the head of the Rosso customs office, during an interview with the press.
He said he was satisfied with this “performance” achieved by all the agents of the Rosso customs office, located on the Senegalese-Mauritanian border.
They have accomplished, during the year 2024, “remarkable work, the fruit of collective efforts”, he praised, adding that “these appreciable results are to the credit of the all the office agents who work daily to achieve the set objective.
Lieutenant-Colonel Abdoulaye Ndiaye also praised the support of partners including approved customs brokers present during the deployment of the IT system in Rosso.
”The installation of this computer system called +Gaïndé system+ made it possible to have greater control of the tax base and to diversify activities. Which earned us these satisfactory results today,” he recalled.
»These performances were also possible thanks to the support of the customs administration, through the customs administration modernization program which allows customs units, even the most remote, to have the facilities to correctly carry out tasks. services,” he added.
-The lieutenant-colonel did not fail to note on this occasion the difficulties encountered by the Rosso office in this border area, citing among other things “customs regulations”.
»It cannot be applied in all its rigor to local populations. This is why formulas are developed to support populations,” he explained.
”In addition, new provisions on the security aspect, in addition to the strengthening of control and the installation of the mobile scanner to ensure non-intrusive control of small packages, are envisaged for the year 2025,” added Mr. . Ndiaye.
According to him, “this recently acquired equipment will make it possible to fight in a much more effective manner against illicit trafficking which is developing in border areas”.
