ANACIM announces a swell this Wednesday

The National Civil Aviation and Meteorology Agency (Anacim) announced the approach of a “big swell” and urged the Senegalese to exercise caution. “From Wednesday January 22 to Saturday January 25, 2025, an impressive three-meter swell, coming from the northwest, will affect the entire Senegalese coast,” we read in the Anacim bulletin. Forecasters advise against “swimming and water activities”. They invite “fishermen and sailors to keep their boats at the dock”. “Watch your loved ones, especially children,” warned Anacim.

In its bulletin dedicated to monitoring freshness, the Agency highlighted that Podor, although renowned for its heat, recorded 10°C during the night from Saturday to Sunday. In its very short-term forecast, valid from 01/19/25 at 12:00 p.m. to 01/20/25 at 12:00 p.m., it reports “sunny weather accompanied by the presence of cloudy veils which will be noted over the entire territory “. According to Anacim, the heat will be less sustained during this day, especially in the northern half of the country. “The maximum temperatures will therefore vary from 24°C in Dakar to 36°C in Kaffrine. The night and morning coolness will remain very noticeable throughout the territory, particularly in the locations in the far north (Podor and surrounding areas), where minimums of 11 to 14°C are expected,” warns Anacim. In the rest of the country, it announces minimum temperatures which will generally vary between 15 and 21°C.
