She is 4 and a half years old. She weighs one ton and 100 grams. Originally from Riaille (Loire-Atlantique), Reinette will try to win first place in the Aquitaine blonde competition at agricultural show in Paris.
Loire-Atlantique: Guillaume and Reinette will participate in the Agricultural Show
If Guillaume Dutertre and his wife Audrey have been running the farm since 2006they are already the fourth generation of the family to hold the reins. Together, the couple raises 80 Blonde d’Aquitaine suckler cows.
It is therefore in this breeding that grew up Reinette. “She was born with us. It is important for us to present an animal that we have trained since childhood”explains Audrey Dutertre. “It took several tries. We are working on genetics and mating,” adds her husband Guillaume.
And so far, the results seem to be paying off, since Reinette stood out during the national selection, which allows her to soon participate in the competition at the agricultural show in Paris.
We had pressure. But as soon as the response was positive, we were happy. This is the first time we are participating in this competition. The bar is high.
Daily training before the big day
Reinette will be judged on her breed quality, but also her morphology and body length. His visit will take place on Thursday February 27, 2025.
-“Until then, we will have to prepare for the public, the noise, the road and also unlike heat. She’s already used to going out in the ring,” confides the farmer.
Indeed, Reinette came first in the national Blonde d'Aquitaine competition in 2023 in Châteaubriant.
A family adventure
This adventure at the agricultural show in Paris will be done with the family, with their three children. “We are proud to see that our children are very involved. It’s a family event,” says mother Audrey Dutertre.
If their 18-year-old sister Louna is also on the trip, the two brothers Melwin 15 years and Tino 11 years are cow enthusiasts. At the last edition of the Béré Fair, they both presented cows.
For the Dutertre farm, winning first prize in the Blonde d'Aquitaine competition at the agricultural show in Paris would allow them to “to obtain fame and attract customers for potential reproductions”.
Two other farms from Loire-Atlantique participate in competitions at the agricultural show in Paris, but in other categories. This is the GAEC Sainte-Pauline in Joué-sur-Erdre and GAEC des Fleuriais in Puceul.
