The anti-prostitution sign which was on a road in Val-d'Oise has just been removed, to the great pleasure of its mayor.
Installed in 2018 on a road in the Ile-de-France commune of Épinay-Champlâtreux, in Val-d'Oise, an explicit sign indicating a place of prostitution in the immediate vicinity has disappeared in recent months from the D136 on which it was located. Contacted by us this Monday to find out the reason for the removal of this singular sign, Emmanuel de Noailles, the mayor of this tiny town of a few dozen souls, told us bluntly: “This sign has been removed because the problem has been resolved.”
It has to last!
At the time when this anti-prostitution sign – clones of which also exist in the Drôme department, south of Valence – was still in place on a road in his municipality, the councilor of the commune of Épinay-Champlâtreux had already noticed “fewer comings and goings of customers and fewer prostitutes”, no doubt frightened by this “flashing” no longer allowing the same anonymity. Until more recently put an end to this wild prostitution, and therefore allow the pure and simple removal of this sign, oh so explicit. Which particularly pleases its mayor, who however remains cautious on the subject by specifying: “Let’s hope it lasts!”
