At the end of December, in the Arve valley, the air quality had already deteriorated significantly, pushing state services to activate red vigilance in this area.

Who says evolution of the alert threshold, says evolution of restrictions. The Haute-Savoie prefecture informs that, in the Arve valley, individuals are prohibited from using individual wood heaters for supplementary or recreational use (fireplaces, stoves, etc.), obligation to reduce the heating temperature of buildings to 18 degrees, but also the ban on carrying out maintenance or cleaning work with non-electric tools (lawn mowing, hedge trimmers, etc.) or using organic solvents (paint, varnish, etc.). It is also prohibited to use generators.

On major roads, the maximum traffic speed is lowered by 20 km/h. Differentiated traffic is in place for heavy goods vehicles. Vehicle pollution controls are also strengthened.

Several measures also apply to local industries and businesses. All restrictions can be found on the Haute-Savoie prefecture website. The other sectors of Savoie and Isère, without vigilance at this stage, are not affected by these obligations.
